Scripps is a not-for-profit, community-based health care delivery network
in San Diego, California, that includes five acute-care hospitals, more
than 2,600 affiliated physicians, an extensive ambulatory care network,
home health care and associated support services. As a result of the
July 2000 re-affiliation with Scripps Clinic, Scripps now has approximately
10,000 employees and also cares for patients at 11 Scripps Clinic locations
throughout San Diego County.
Scripps has a long history in San Diego, dating back to 1924 when Ellen
Browning Scripps founded Scripps Memorial Hospital and Scripps Metabolic
Clinic in La Jolla. Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego's oldest hospital,
was founded in 1890 and joined the Scripps system in 1995.
Today, in addition to Scripps Mercy Hospital and Scripps Memorial Hospital
La Jolla (formerly Scripps Memorial Hospital), the Scripps acute-care
hospital system includes Scripps Green Hospital, Scripps Memorial Hospital
Encinitas and Scripps Memorial Hospital Chula Vista.
At Scripps, we believe in understanding and supporting our employees
- the whole person - inside and outside of work. Because we know that
you're a healthcare professional, but chances are you're a mother, a
do-it-yourselfer, a gardener, an animal lover, a student or maybe a
writer.
That's why we work hard to ensure the environment at Scripps is centered
around keeping quality employees happy. So, in addition to all the professional
support and learning we try to provide, we try to make it a place where
people are happy to come to work.
