Course Overview
It is estimated that nearly twenty percent of patients seen by a primary care physician manifest neurological complaints such as headaches, dementia, carpal tunnel syndrome, MS, Parkinson’s disease, etc. However, only a small portion of the clinical office practice is directed to the evaluation and management of diseases of the nervous system. While primary care physicians are faced with various neurological disorders suffered by their patients, many feel they are not entirely prepared and appropriately educated in the clinical neurosciences to initiate proper care or referral. With this in mind, a team of neurological specialists and primary care physicians designed the Neurology for the Non-Neurologist conference. The goal of this CME course is to assist primary care physicians in making the appropriate diagnosis, providing effective treatment, and determining the need for referral or follow-up care for patients with neurological complaints which in turn will lead to improved patient outcomes.
