Conference Overview

This conference will review the latest medications and therapies in liver treatment and transplantation. The results of trials and real-world data using oral drugs to treat chronic viral hepatitis B and C, non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases, primary biliary cirrhosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, hepatocellular carcinoma and complications of end-stage liver disease including thrombocytopenia will be reviewed in detail. New Treatments in Chronic Liver Disease is a comprehensive yet concise program for updating physicians on these and other commonly encountered problems in the treatment of liver diseases.

Educational Objectives

After attending this live activity, participants should be able to:

•  Understand new nomenclature for steatotic liver disease.

•  Assess new therapies for treating Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Liver Disease.

•  Review guidelines for the management of viral hepatitis including HBV, HCV and Delta.

•  Understand advances in management of cholestatic liver disease, alcohol use disorder and liver masses.

•  Address causes and trends of liver disease and liver transplantation in women.

•  Evaluate Treatments for Advanced HCC.

  • Outline recent advances in the understanding and management of portal hypertension, ascites and hepatorenal syndrome.

This activity is designed to include curriculum addressing the topics of cultural and linguistic competency (CLC) and implicit bias (IB) in compliance with California Business and Professions (B&P) Code Section 2190. All those involved in the planning and execution of this activity have been asked to identify and discuss issues relevant to the topics being covered. Maintenance of Certification

American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.


American Board of Pathology (ABPATH)

Successful completion of this CME activity enables the learner to earn Lifelong Learning (CME) credit toward the CME requirement(s) of the American Board of Pathology’s Continuing Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP credit.


MOC points will be awarded to physicians who successfully complete the requirements outlined in the post-activity evaluation. Points earned will be reported to the appropriate specialty board approximately 60 days post conference as long as all learner requirements are met. These credits will not appear on your CME certificate from Scripps.

Attendance and Cancellation Policies

Attendee Cancellation, Substitution and Refund

The course tuition is refundable, minus a $100 processing fee (MD, DO, RN, PA, NP, Other) or a $25 processing fee (Student, Resident, Fellow, Scripps Rate), if your cancellation is received in writing no later than Friday, March 1, 2024. Attendee substitutions are allowed, but notification must be made in writing by Friday, March 1, 2024. After this date, under no circumstances will refunds, credits, or substitutions be granted. No refunds or credits will be given to “no shows.” No refunds shall be made for cancellations due to inclement weather. 


Scripps Conference Modification or Cancellation

Scripps reserves the right to modify the course’s schedule or program as necessary. Scripps also reserves the right to cancel this conference, in which case a full refund of the registration fee will be provided. Attendees who purchase non-refundable airline tickets do so at their own risk. Scripps encourages the purchase of travel insurance as we are unable to refund any travel costs (flight, hotel, etc.) in the case of Scripps cancellation.

By completion and submission of the online registration form, attendees certify that they have read and fully understand the Health and Safety Waiver and Assumption of Risk Agreement.


Family and Guest Attendance Policy

All conference activities and meals are exclusively reserved for paid conference attendees. Children and family members are not allowed to attend meal functions or permitted in the meeting space.


Recording and Photography Clause

Scripps reserves exclusive rights to record (audio and video) and/or photograph all conference proceedings for use in marketing materials, presentations and course content sales.
