Scripps Mercy Graduate Medical Education
Provider of Medical Education Since 1949
Scripps Mercy Hospital is a full-service, 700-bed, tertiary care hospital with campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista. Established in 1890 by the Sisters of Mercy, Scripps Mercy is San Diego’s oldest and only Catholic Hospital and the largest teaching hospital in the region. We are committed to state-of-the-art, evidence-based medicine, personalized to each patient.
Since 1949, Scripps Mercy Graduate Medical Education programs have trained young physicians, medical students and other health care workers in the art and science of medicine. In the process, we develop core values, including service, compassion, integrity, professionalism and stewardship. We share the Sisters’ belief that education and dedication to service generate high quality patient care.
Staffed by internal medicine and transitional year residents, Mercy Clinic is central to the Sisters’ long-term commitment to serving the poor and supporting graduate medical education. The facility hosts primary care, continuity and specialty clinics and is a critical part of medical education at Scripps Mercy Hospital.
Scripps Mercy Hospital and its training programs are part of the nationally known Scripps Health system, which is affiliated with The Scripps Research Institute.
