Scripps is a leader in research that is changing the lives of patients across the
country, and the Scripps Translational Science Institute helps to make that happen.
The goal of the institute is simply to make a difference with what we learn – to
move discoveries from laboratory "benches" to patient bedsides in the safest, most
efficient and most effective way possible.

In collaboration with pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology and medical
diagnostic companies, Scripps is reinventing the nature of clinical trials. Our
Scripps Individualized Medicine Advanced Clinical Trials (SIMACT) capitalize on
the latest in genetic technology. Instead of broadly testing 10,000 people through
a scatter approach, genetic knowledge is improving our aim. Utilizing individual
genetic data, our highly advanced clinical trials specifically target small groups
of 500 or less who share a particular gene variant.
