Advanced Treatment for Parkinson’s Disease, Essential Tremor and Dystonia

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is an innovative neurosurgical procedure that can help control movement disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, essential tremor and dystonia. DBS lessens symptoms by sending a mild electrical current to structures deep within the brain that are associated with the symptoms caused by these conditions. While the treatment does not cure Parkinson’s disease, or other movement disorders, it can help patients manage the symptoms. In many cases, DBS can reduce the need for medication.
