Alcohol and Drug Treatment - Interventions

Intervention: The first step toward recovery

Scripps drug and alcohol treatment program offers assistance with bringing your loved one into treatment through the intervention process.

If a loved one has a problem with substance abuse, we encourage you to attend one of our free adult- or adolescent-specific seminars to learn more about chemical dependency and getting the help you need.

Adolescent-specific seminars

Held weekly, our adolescent and young adult (ages 15 – 25) intervention seminars are held in the Scripps’ adolescent intensive outpatient program. Nancy Knott, C.A.D.C., I Counselor and certified interventionist, leads the sessions.

This seminar provides parents and significant adults in young people’s lives with the latest information on the appropriate techniques for interventions with a younger population. These seminars are held every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Building A.

For more information about our seminars, read Weekly Adolescent Substance Abuse Seminars Offer Education and Help.

Adult-specific seminars

Adult-specific seminars are held every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. John C. Seaman, a nationally recognized interventionist and expert on the signs and symptoms of chemical dependency and enabling behavior, discusses the following at these seminars:

  • Signs and symptoms of chemical dependency
  • Indicators of the severity of the problem
  • What enabling behavior is and why it isn’t helpful
  • How to plan and implement a successful intervention
