How long will my exam take?

The amount of time needed for your exam depends on the type of exam you are having
done. Some exams take minutes while others might take days with several visits.Your physician and our nuclear medicine team can inform you more about your particular exam.

Are there side effects or complications to having a nuclear medicine exam?

There are no known complications.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for my exam?

There are no special preparations needed for most nuclear medicine exams.However, there are some exams that might require for you not to eat or drink. Your physician or a member of the nuclear medicine department will tell you about any necessary preparations before the day of your exam.

Can I resume my everyday activities after the test?

The majority of people who have a nuclear medicine exam resume their normal activities
following the test. If your physician has stopped or reduced any medication prior to having
the test, you should find out when/if you should continue on your regular dose.
