Welcome to Scripps Health: A World of Healing

Sleep Medicine

The Sleep Disorders Center at Scripps Mercy Hospital, established in 1989, is a comprehensive sleep disorders center that is accredited every five years by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The center specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a range of sleep problems. Our sleep medicine services include sleep disorders consultations with our sleep specialist, sleep studies and individualized treatment plans that accommodate a variety of lifestyles. We have expertise in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders patients of all ages, including children, teenagers and adults.

At the Sleep Disorders Center, we treat patients with a variety of sleep disorders, including:

  • Snoring
  • Sleep apnea
  • Narcolepsy
  • Sleep-related epilepsy
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Non-restorative sleep
  • Persistent daytime sleepiness

We also have specialized programs for insomnia, shift work disorders, circadian rhythm disorders and parasomnias, including sleepwalking, bedwetting, nightmares and night terrors. We help parents who want to teach their baby to sleep through the night. In addition, we design sleep and work schedules for patients who must cross time zones for business travel or who work at night to enhance their alertness and performance.

State-of-the-art diagnostics

For patients who need to undergo a sleep study, we provide diagnostic polysomnography, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP) titrations and multiple sleep latency tests. After the diagnostic evaluations are complete, we prepare an individualized treatment plan for each patient.
