Perhaps no program better embodies Scripps’ efforts to provide care for the underserved than Mercy Clinic at Scripps Mercy Hospital. The clinic provides a training ground for more than 50 residents belonging to the Scripps Mercy Graduate Medical Education Program, one of the most sought-after residency programs in the nation. The clinic staff of nurses and other personnel work hand in hand with faculty, residents and specialists from the outstanding medical staff at Scripps Mercy Hospital.
In addition to routine care, Mercy Clinic offers a wide variety of subspecialty services including orthopedics, podiatry, nephrology, endocrinology and diabetes care, neurology, cardiology, and nutritional counseling.
Mercy Clinic was founded in 1930 with the intent of caring for the underserved. Many of the patient visits are paid through Medi-Cal, Medicare or other insurance plans. Mercy Clinic and Scripps Mercy Hospital work in collaboration with San Diego County’s vast network of community clinics to provide care for those without funding.
