Relax While Receiving Treatment
Scripps Clinic cancer patients receive chemotherapy, blood products, and other treatments in the hematology and oncology treatment room, located on the third floor of the Anderson Outpatient Pavilion.
The treatment room, which can accommodate up to 18 patients at a time, is staffed by registered oncology nurses who have special certification that allows them to administer chemotherapy. In addition, our oncology social worker visits the treatment room several times a day to check in on patients and see if they have questions.
While receiving treatment, patients can relax in reclining chairs or beds and enjoy more than 2,000 square feet of unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean.
What to bring
Patients are invited to bring portable music players with headphones, books, and other reading materials to help pass the time.
We also encourage patients, especially those who are receiving a full day’s treatment, to bring snacks (food can be stored in the treatment room refrigerator). Family members and friends are welcome to join you in the treatment room.
The treatment room is available to patients Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Patients with urgent questions regarding their treatment who cannot wait until regular business hours should call the hospital operator at 858-455-9100. The hospital operator can page the on-call hematology/oncology physician at any time.
