Correcting Vision and Eye Problems in Kids

Because our visual system is constantly developing throughout our early years, it is critical that vision and eye problems that develop during infancy or childhood are managed appropriately.

Scripps Clinic recognizes this and offers medical and surgical eye care uniquely suited to the pediatric population, as well as adults suffering from strabismus (crossed or wandering eyes). Our Pediatric Ophthalmology Program, directed by Gregory Ostrow, MD, meets San Diego’s growing need for experts who can care for complex eye problems in kids, from birth to age 18.

Open communication and outstanding care

As a physician, Dr. Ostrow understands that kids have health needs that are distinct from adults, and therefore need to be cared for differently. As a father, he recognizes the importance of evaluating and treating children in a patient, calming manner.

Dr. Ostrow and his staff share a philosophy that fosters communication and prompt access to care. Not only do they encourage all parents to express concerns and ask questions during their child’s visit, but they make every effort to schedule same-day appointments for patients who need to be seen right away.
