Leon Parma, Ernest Rady, Sister Mary Jo Anderson join Scripps Health Board of Trustees

Abby Silverman elected Chairman for second year

SAN DIEGO – Leon W. Parma, Ernest S. Rady and Sister Mary Jo Anderson have joined the Scripps Health Board of Trustees. Attorney Abby Sliverman has been re-elected to a second term as chairman.


Parma was a founder and chairman of La Jolla Bank & Trust Company and focuses on property management through his companies Parma Management Company, Parma Property Company and S.D. Storage.He also is chairman of the board for Lyon Electric Company in Chula Vista. He is founder, with Rady, of Pacific Capital Trading Co., a fabricator of molds for injected plastic molded parts, and serves as chairman of the board. Parma resides in La Jolla.


Rady, also of La Jolla, is founder of American Assets, a financial services, investment management and real estate firm. He is chairman and chief executive of Westcorp and chairman of Insurance Company of the West.


For 22 years, business partners Parma and Rady owned Coast Distributing Company, a distributor of Anheuser-Busch products in San Diego, which they sold to Anheuser-Busch in 2001.Parma and Rady, through PAR Broadcasting Co., also were owners in four San Diego radio stations, including KOGO.


Sister Mary Jo Anderson, with the Catholic order of the Community of the Holy Spirit, is former senior vice president for hospital operations for Scripps Health (1997-2000) and former vice president for Mercy Healthcare in San Diego.Sr. Anderson has held administrative positions in health care, including 20 years at Mercy.She continues to serve on numerous community boards and committees and is the recipient of numerous awards including the prestigious Salvation Army Woman of Dedication and the University of San Diego Author E. Hughes Achievement Award. Sr. Anderson resides in Middletown.
