For the fifth consecutive year, Scripps Mercy Medical Group (SMMG) – affiliated with Scripps Mercy Hospital – has been selected as the number one medical group in San Diego County. Receiving an overall “excellent” rating from the California Cooperative Healthcare Reporting Initiative (CCHRI) in its fifth annual survey, SMMG was commended on quality performance and patient satisfaction.
“We’re very proud of the care we provide each of our patients. To receive this ranking, which is based on our patients’ perceptions, even once is a tremendous accomplishment, and we are thrilled to have received this honor every year since the survey began,” said Kevin Hirsch, M.D., president of Scripps Mercy Medical Group. “This survey directly reflects the opinions of our consumers and is a true validation of the compassionate work we do here.”
Throughout California, more than 50,000 patients drawn from primary care and multi-specialty groups responded to the CCHRI survey. Patients were asked various questions to determine medical group performance in the areas of patient access to services (primary and specialty, as well as urgent and non-urgent), communication between physicians and patients, counseling on preventive care topics and overall care.
SMMG received scores above the Southern California average in every category, including satisfaction with your personal physician, whether or not you would recommend a physician to friends and family, and the overall rating of your health care from all doctors and other health providers.
With medical offices in Hillcrest and Bonita, Scripps Mercy Medical Group comprises a team of board-certified physicians specializing in internal medicine, family practice and pediatrics. All physicians have medical staff privileges at Scripps Mercy Hospital, while pediatricians also are on the medical staff of Children’s Hospital and Health Center and Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista. In addition, SMMG patients have access to hundreds of specialists affiliated with Scripps Health.
SMMG accepts most health plans and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Many of its physicians are fluent in second languages, including Spanish, Japanese, Farsi, French, Italian, German, Urdu, Tamil and Czech.
