Scripps Health Opens Scripps Coastal Medical Center, Eastlake

Scripps Health and the city of Chula Vista gathered Oct. 27, 2008 to celebrate the grand opening of Scripps Coastal Medical Center, Eastlake, the new home of Scripps Health’s medical offices in Chula Vista.

Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox and San Diego County Supervisor Greg Cox were on hand to participate in the ribbon cutting.

The 21,000-square-foot outpatient center and medical office building opened its doors to the public Nov. 3 and will be home to 11 physicians specializing in family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics. Scripps Coastal Medical Center, Eastlake features state-of-the-art medical offices, exam rooms and laboratory services in a convenient location for residents of the fast-growing Eastlake area of Chula Vista. The new center replaces the Scripps Coastal location in Bonita.

The opening of the medical center is the latest in Scripps Health’s efforts to expand and accommodate San Diego’s growing population and increasing health care needs. Located at 971 Lane Ave., the Eastlake site is the third new medical location Scripps has opened this fall to bring leading-edge outpatient care to the San Diego community. The center, along with recently opened centers in Carlsbad and Rancho Bernardo, represent part of almost $2 billion Scripps is investing to improve and expand its health care facilities in the coming decade.

“The opening of this beautiful new medical facility is a proud day for Scripps,” said Chris Van Gorder, Scripps Health president and CEO. “We are extremely grateful for the support of our dedicated, physicians, staff and patients who all play a part in helping us expand our services and offer new facilities across the region.”
