New Surgical Robots Showcase: Open House News Clips

Scripps Mercy Hospital hosted an open house to showcase one of two state-of-the-art da Vinci Surgical Systems recently acquired through philanthropic gifts by the Scripps Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery on July 15, 2009. This new surgical system represents the most advanced robotic technology available anywhere today and provides surgeons with the ability to perform highly complex surgeries through very small incisions.

In just two years Scripps surgeons have performed more than 500 robot-assisted surgeries, including a wide array of very complex urologic, cardiothoracic and gynecologic procedures, as well as oncologic, bariatric and general surgeries – establishing Scripps as the fastest-growing and most comprehensive robotic surgery program in San Diego.
