Gala Supports Cancer Care for San Diego and Chula Vista Communities
San Diego – The 40th Anniversary Mercy Ball, Tune In to Mercy, will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010, and will benefit Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego and Chula Vista. The milestone event will be celebrated with an exciting change in venue and format. For the first time ever, Mercy Ball will be held at Anthology, in downtown San Diego, and will feature a live concert performance from Grammy Award-Winning jazz legend, Patti Austin. Guests will also enjoy a high-energy live auction and exquisite cuisine prepared by executive chef Eric Bauer.
J.D. Bols and Brittany Jones will chair the gala. The father and daughter team are serving in honor of wife and mother Lisa Bols, who passed away in 2009 after a brave, two-year fight with colon cancer at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego. Mayor Jerry Sanders is honorary chairman.
All proceeds raised will benefit – the only hospital-based cancer program serving the more than one million people who live or work in downtown San Diego, South Bay and surrounding communities. The gala will help fund a Women’s Breast Care Center on the San Diego campus and vital cancer programs and services for Scripps Cancer Center at both the Chula Vista and San Diego campuses.
