Grammy Award Winner Patti Austin to Perform Live Concert
San Diego – For the first time, the 40th Anniversary Mercy Ball, Tune In to Mercy, will be held at Anthology in downtown San Diego. This exciting event will feature a must-see live performance from Grammy Award-Winning singer and songwriter Patti Austin and exquisite cuisine from executive chef Eric Bauer. The ball will take place on Saturday, April 10, 2010, and will benefit at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego and Chula Vista.
Best known for her number one Billboard sensation, “Baby, Come to Me,” with James Ingram, vocalist Patti Austin has enjoyed an illustrious career since her stage debut at the world-famous Apollo Theater in Harlem at the age of four. The Grammy Award-Winning artist has produced more than 17 albums, and is celebrated worldwide for her Jazz and R&B hits.
Austin’s smooth vocals and spirited stage presence will set the mood for this exciting evening, which will also feature a live auction of one-of-a-kind items, including a six-night Hawaiian getaway and a private evening for 10 with dinner from Golden Door chef Michel Stroot and entertainment by jazz singer Sacha Boutros.
J.D. Bols and Brittany Jones will serve as chairmen of this year’s ball. The father and daughter team are serving in honor of wife and mother, Lisa Bols, who passed away in 2009 after a brave, two-year fight with colon cancer at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego. Mayor Jerry Sanders is honorary chairman.
Scripps Cancer Center at Scripps Mercy Hospital is the only hospital-based cancer program serving the more than one million people who live or work in downtown San Diego, South Bay and surrounding communities. The 40th Anniversary Mercy Ball will support a new Women’s Breast Care Center and state-of-the-art equipment for detecting and diagnosing breast cancer on the San Diego campus. Proceeds will also fund vital operating programs and services for the Scripps Cancer Center at both our Chula Vista and San Diego campuses.
