Skateboarding Helmet Safety

Chase Walleen, 15-year-old high school student was treated at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla after a skateboarding accident on Oct. 22. Chase, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of his accident, suffered a serious head injury and underwent emergency brain surgery by neurosurgeon Dr. Frank Coufal. Now, fully recovered, Chase (along with his family and Dr. Coufal) is trying to spread the message to always wear a helmet when skateboarding. Watch this NBC 7 story for more information…
