Hospice of the North Coast (HNC) and Scripps Health today jointly announced that they have entered into an exclusive agreement to discuss an affiliation between HNC and Scripps. HNC is a private, nonprofit hospice provider serving coastal North County.
Providing care together
“Hospice of the North Coast provides outstanding end-of-life services to patients in coastal North County,” said Chris Van Gorder, Scripps President and CEO. “Scripps and HNC have entered discussions about joining forces to provide an even greater level of service to the community.”
“HNC looks forward to the possibility of working with Scripps,” said Nerice Kaufman, HNC’s executive director. “We have a long history with the Scripps system, and feel we have common values and a shared commitment to providing the highest quality in hospice services, bereavement and palliative care. We see synergies in combining our teams together to serve patients so it is prudent to investigate this option.”
Scripps began offering hospice services in February in response to the closure of San Diego Hospice. In the past eight months, Scripps Hospice has quickly become one of the largest providers of hospice services in the San Diego region. Scripps also has been offering home health services and a palliative care program for many years.
