The John Brockington Foundation recently donated a large mounted hand bell to Scripps Green Hospital to be rung each time a patient is transplanted with donated organs or cells.

The bell was presented during a ceremony outside the San Diego County Administration Buidling to Christopher Marsh, MD, who is chief of the Scripps Organ Transplantation Service in the division of organ transplantation and surgical program director of the Scripps Center for Organ Transplantation. He also is currently chief of staff for Green Hospital.

The bell will be mounted on the transplant floor of the La Jolla hospital.

The ceremony also marked National Minority Donor Awareness Week.
