Scripps Health Chief Academic Officer Eric Topol, MD, is among 150 leading physicians across the country who are nominated for Modern Healthcare magazine’s annual list of the “50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders.”
A leading expert in the fast-emerging world of digital medicine, Dr. Topol directs the Scripps Translational Science Institute. His new book, “The Patient Will See You Now,” is currently Amazon’s No. 1 best selling biotechnolgy book and is listed among Amazon’s top 100 Hot New Releases.

Dr. Topol first appeared on the Modern Healthcare list in 2012 when he was ranked No. 1 following the publication of his seminal book “The Creative Destruction of Medicine.”
This year’s list will be based on reader votes and input from senior editors of the magazine.
An internationally renowned cardiologist, geneticist and researcher, Dr. Topol has led the push to modernize medicine through the adoption of genetic sequencing and wireless technology.
As director of STSI, Dr. Topol guides an innovative, National Institutes of Health-supported collaborative research program between Scripps Health and The Scripps Research Institute in partnership with the San Diego Supercomputer Center.
