On Jan. 30, about 280 hospital, law enforcement and fire department personnel came together for an active shooter drill at the new Prebys Cardiovascular Institute, which opens for patient care in March at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. This is the second multiagency drill Scripps has participated in to help train hospital staff on how to respond to such a situation. The previous drill was at the Critical Care building at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas last year before it opened for patient care.
