Lifeguard's return to Scripps Memorial La Jolla brings cheers, tears
Doctors and nurses at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla cheered and cried last month when spine injury patient Joey Converse walked into the intensive care unit only 23 days after being wheeled out following treatment for a severe neck injury he suffered at the beach.
Converse, along with some of his Scripps caregivers, told his inspirational recovery story in a recent San Diego Union-Tribune article.
