Biography

Adam Fierer, MD, is a general surgeon with highly specialized training in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery. His clinical interests include the use of minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery for the treatment of a wide range of conditions including colon and rectal cancers, as well as adrenal, splenic and pancreatic diseases. Dr. Fierer is also highly skilled in the use of minimally invasive surgery for gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), in addition to the repair of both simple and complex abdominal hernias. He has used the daVinci Robotic Surgery System since 2010 and he is the lead surgeon for the Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas Robotic Surgery Program.

Dr. Fierer joined Scripps Health in 2004 and is committed to providing every patient with outstanding care during what can be a very stressful time. Dr. Fierer is heavily involved in the early recovery after surgery process at Scripps Encinitas, which is the result of a combined effort between multiple departments within the hospital to help optimize patient surgery, minimize the use of and need for narcotics and provide a faster recovery.

Dr. Fierer has been recognized eight times by the San Diego County Medical Society as one of San Diego’s Top Doctors. In addition, he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is past president of the San Diego Society of General Surgeons. He volunteers with several organizations, including the San Diego County Medical Society’s Project Access, which provides surgical care to the indigent population of San Diego. He has completed several medical missions, including one to Nicaragua to provide surgical assistance to people in underserved areas.

A San Diego native, Dr. Fierer enjoys spending time with his family and friends and stays active by participating in softball and football leagues, skiing and surfing. He hopes to spend more time sharing the joys of travel with his family and introducing his children to a variety of new places, people and cultures.
