Jan Fronek, M.D. is a member of Scripps Clinic Division of Orthopedics and head of sports medicine, a section dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of sports-related injuries.

Dr. Fronek’s expertise includes arthroscopic surgery, which uses a pencil-sized telescope to diagnose and treat knee, shoulder and other joint problems. The minimally-invasive procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, and frequently produces less pain and results in faster healing.

While providing care for a variety of professional athletes including the members of the San Diego Padres Baseball team and, formerly, the U.S. Pro Ski Tour, Dr. Fronek also treats amateur or recreational athletes. Regardless of the individual’s background, his primary focus is to ensure a safe and speedy recovery. In order to enhance the outcomes of those in his care, he collaborates closely with sports therapists and athletic trainers.
