- Biography:
Dr.Dana P. Launer was born and raised in New York City. He received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Queens College of the City University of New York and graduated with a medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Dr. Launer was a surgical intern and resident at the North Shore University Hospital of Cornell University Medical Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Institute, both in New York. In 1978, he was a special Fellow in the Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic where he studied with Dr. Victor W. Fazio and Dr. Rupert B. Turnbull.
Dr. Launer has been in private practice in La Jolla, California since 1979. In 1985, he took a sabbatical from practice to pursue his interest in the surgical management of Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease by studying with Dr. Nils Koch in Gotteborg, Sweden and Hamburg, Germany.
Dr. Launer is married and has four children. In his spare time he enjoys woodworking and gourmet cooking.
