Ross Rudolph, MD

Dr. Ross Rudolph specializes in facial rejuvenation, which includes face lifts, brow lifts, skin peel procedures and eyelid surgery. Dr. Rudolph is also adept at performing liposculpture, rhinoplasty (nose surgery), breast enhancement, breast reduction, and facial and breast reconstruction following cancer treatment. He has had a full-time Plastic Surgery practice in La Jolla and San Diego since 1975. Dr. Rudolph is the former Division Head of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Scripps Clinic (1987-2011).

Dr. Rudolph chose plastic surgery as a specialty because it combines many medical and surgical interests. With special emphasis on head and neck surgery, he believes the outcome of cosmetic surgery should produce a natural look, never tight or drawn. Breast and skin cancer reconstruction is another area of specialization.

In reconstructive surgery, Dr. Rudolph seeks to repair and reconstruct deformities, scars and surgical defects in a way that satisfies each individual patient. He embraces the challenge of helping people reach their goals, whether to improve appearance and self-confidence or to repair defects.

Dr. Rudolph is the author of more than 140 articles and has edited/authored three books on plastic surgery. Most of them relate to tissue healing, and many apply to cosmetic surgery. He has been active in many national and local societies, including being a board member of the San Diego Opera.

Originally from Reading, Pennsylvania, Dr. Rudolph graduated from Yale University Magna Cum Laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in recognition of academic excellence. At Columbia Medical School, he was elected to the medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Following his internship at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Rudolph and his wife, Nancy, worked for two years in New Mexico, providing much needed medical care to Native Americans, before his residency in Plastic Surgery at Case-Western Reserve University.
