Dr. John Backman specializes in cardiology and has more than 35 years of medical experience. He has special interests in traditional diagnostic cardiology, and fitness and preventive medicine. An avid marathoner with more than a 100 under his belt as well as a dozen triathlons, he also creates exercise programs for weekend warriors and elite competitors.
He has served as physician and medical director of many road races in San Diego and was race director of the Easter Seals Race for five years.
Dr. Backman is a fellow of the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Sports Medicine and the American College of Physicians.
