Caprese Salad Recipe

A staple of Italian cuisine, this exceedingly simple salad takes just 10 minutes to make. Fresh mozzarella makes for a low sodium recipe.

Ingredients

    • 1 large tomato, cut into 1/4-inch slices
    • A pinch of salt
    • A pinch of garlic powder
    • 2 ounces fresh mozzarella, cut into 1/4-inch slices
    • Fresh basil leaves
    • 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
    • 1 Tbsp Balsamic vinegar
    • 1/4 tsp oregano
    • Freshly ground black pepper

Directions

    1. Season tomato slices with salt and garlic powder.
    2. Stack one mozzarella slice, one tomato slice, and one basil leaf and arrange stacks on plate.
    3. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and sprinkle with oregano and freshly ground black pepper.
