Savory Shrimp Pastry Recipe

This holiday appetizer is a cinch to prepare and will leave a lasting impression on your guests. Find wonton wrappers at your local grocery store. Heat the assembled cups just before serving.

Ingredients

  • 36 wonton wrappers
  • 1 1/2 cups (12 ounces) shredded reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup chopped cooked shrimp
  • 1 cup chopped roasted red bell peppers
  • 1 cup salsa (if using commercial, look for low sodium)
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350º.
  2. Fit one wonton wrapper into each of 36 mini muffin cups coated with cooking spray, pressing the wrappers into the sides of the cups. Bake wontons at 350º for 7 minutes or until lightly browned. Keep wontons in muffin cups. Combine cheese and remaining ingredients, and spoon 1 tablespoon of the cheese mixture into each wonton cup. Bake at 350º for 6 minutes or until cheese melts. Remove from muffin cups. Serve immediately.
