Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars Recipe

Wow your kids with these delicious peanut butter bars. They are healthier than traditional brownies and the dark chocolate chips are good for you.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp canola oil
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup reduced calorie trans fat free margarine
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly coat an 8-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Using a hand mixer, combine sugars, oil, egg, vanilla, peanut butter, margarine and water. In a separate bowl, combine flours, baking powder and chocolate chips. Fold dry mixture into wet with a spatula. Spread mixture into baking pan.
  3. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the tops of the bars look dry. Cool in pan. When cooled completely cut into 2-inch squares.
