Smart Brownies Recipe

These delicious brownies use whole wheat flour instead of refined all purpose flour and egg whites instead of regular eggs. If they come out too dry, try bumping up the amount of olive oil.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup heart healthy margarine
  • 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 4 egg whites, well beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Melt margarine and chocolate together in a large saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in remaining ingredients. Pour into a greased 8 inch square pan.
  2. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
