Weight Management Research

Working to better understand the link between obesity and other conditions

Maintaining a healthy weight is an important part of overall health. Researchers at the Scripps Clinic Nutrition and Metabolic Research Center, and other facilities, are working to better understand the relationship between obesity and diabetes, cardiovascular disease, sleep apnea, arthritis and many other conditions.

Scripps conducts clinical research on obesity, diabetes, eating disorders, cholesterol problems and hypertension. Researchers also test medications and devices, bringing these treatments to patients sooner.

Recent trials have investigated the effectiveness of:

  • Bariatric surgery
  • Lifestyle change
  • New pharmaceuticals
