Receive Individualized Breast Cancer Care at Scripps
Scripps Health offers individualized breast cancer care through a nationally recognized approach that combines our experienced team of multidisciplinary health professionals, including oncology doctors and dedicated nurse navigators, with the latest technologies and treatments.
As California’s first designated integrated network cancer program by the Commission on Cancer (a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients), Scripps Health is at the forefront of preventive, diagnostic and treatment services for patients throughout San Diego County.
With more than 2,600 Scripps affiliated physicians, you have a choice of cancer experts and advanced treatments and therapies to fight the disease. Scripps leads the way in cancer care with three dedicated breast care centers, a state-of-the-art radiation therapy center and a proton therapy center.
Scripps Health is also the place where specially trained nurse navigators are there each step of the way to assist and support you during diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.
San Diego’s first intraoperative radiation therapy
In the second half of 2014, Scripps Health will usher in another first for San Diego breast cancer care with intraoperative electron beam radiation therapy (IOERT) at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. This option during breast surgery promises greater patient convenience and faster treatment times through a single 2-minute dose of radiation that can replace or reduce radiation therapy treatments over several weeks, post-surgery.
Awards and accreditations
It’s no wonder that Scripps Health has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as among the “Best Hospitals” for cancer care, with Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, Scripps Green Hospital and Scripps Mercy Hospital earning designations of “High-Performing” in the publication’s 2014-2015 annual rankings.
Scripps Health’s world-class hospitals, clinics, outpatient imaging centers and supporting facilities have several prestigious accreditations, including those from the Commission on Cancer, the American College of Radiology, as well as National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers distinction.
