Chronic pain is the number one cause of adult disability in the United States. Approximately 50 million people live with chronic pain and nearly a third of Americans will experience chronic pain at some point in their lives. Robert Bonakdar, MD, our director of integrative pain services and a member of the Scripps Green Hospital Pain Management Committee, works with a multidisciplinary staff to assess, evaluate and manage pain. Our unique, medically supervised and highly personalized pain management program addresses the behavioral, emotional, spiritual and physical dimensions of pain.
Our program begins with physical and psychosocial consultations and customized nutrition assessment and counseling. You’ll attend lectures and classes to help you learn to manage stress and reduce your pain. In addition, we incorporate a variety of pain management therapies, including acupuncture, biofeedback, cold laser, diathermy, electrostimulation therapy, Healing Touch, meditation and therapeutic massage.
