Advanced diagnostic scanning: Discovery ST
The Dickinson & Gooding Center for Early Detection features the landmark Discovery ST system, one of the most advanced PET and CT hybrid scanners available in Southern California. In a single procedure that takes less than 30 minutes, the Discovery ST scanner measures metabolic, biochemical and functional activity in living tissue. The PET scans show changes in the function, circulation and metabolism of body organs, while the CT images show tissue and anatomical data. This combined information gives physicians a more complete and accurate diagnostic picture than PET or CT scanning alone, enabling them to better assess the extent and stage of disease and determine the best possible approach to treatment.
