Scripps Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery Program

Robotic surgery is a minimally invasive surgical approach. Similar to conventional laparoscopic procedures, small incisions are made to create ports near the operating field. During robot-assisted surgeries, the surgeon sits at a console in the operating room and remotely manipulates surgical instruments attached to robotic arms. A powerful camera provides magnified images of the structure being operated on and the surrounding nerves and tissues.
