If so, don’t miss our monthly free class designed to help you make an informed decision about becoming a kidney donor. A transplant surgeon and other members of our team will provide answers to the most frequently asked questions about kidney donation, including:

A summary of the donor evaluation process, including medical and psychological testing
Information about the surgery, including risks and recovery information
An overview of the health insurance process and how your donation-related medical expenses are paid
What you need to know about living with only one kidney
The benefits of living kidney donation for the transplant recipient

Organ Transplant Lecture Series & Support Group

First Wednesday monthly, guest speaker from 6-7 p.m., support group from 7-8 p.m.

This unique educational series features a monthly guest speaker on a variety of health topics, and is open to anyone in the community. The lecture is followed by individual support groups for liver and kidney disease patients and their families; the goal is to help participants cope with the stresses associated with the transplant process and provide updates on treatment advances.

Monthly topics June – August:

June 6 lecture: “Diabetes 101” by Dr. Megan McGarvey
July 11 lecture: “The emotional impact of liver and kidney disease” by Dr. Thomas Lian
August 1 lecture: “What’s new in transplantaion and immunology?” by Dr. Daniel Solomon

Transplant Caregiver Support Group

Third Tuesday monthly, 6-7 p.m.

Our monthly support group is designed specifically for people who take care of a loved one who is on the kidney or liver transplant waiting list or has received a transplant. Each session focuses on topics such as stress management, financial considerations, and community resources.
