Research Education and Training

Scholar training and innovative translational research

In conjunction with the Kellogg School at The Scripps Research Institute, STSI offers several research education and training programs:

  • The KL2 grant program enables candidates to pursue a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Investigation degree and a graduate course in translational research. These two-year programs are designed for Scripps Health physicians-in-training and pre-doctoral scientists interested in pursuing careers in molecular medicine.
  • A collaboration with Qualcomm and the West Wireless Health Institute has also resulted in an 18-month Wireless Health Scholar program aimed at training physician-scholars who will determine the clinical utility and clinical potential of evolving wireless medical sensing and therapy devices.

The Scripps Translational Science Institute is creating an optimum environment for physician scientists — those who wish to conduct groundbreaking clinical research while still providing direct patient care. The result is a consistent expansion of the type of research that makes a difference now, with improved patient care as the overall outcome.
