Patients From Across the Us Come to Scripps for Pediatric Spinal Care

Highly specialized and internationally recognized

Gregory Mundis Jr., MD, is internationally recognized in the field of pediatric spine care and has treated some of the world’s most complex cases. Dr. Mundis is also actively involved in research and global training of pediatric spine surgeons in the use of advanced surgical techniques and FDA-approved implants and instrumentation.

Under the guidance of Dr. Mundis, Scripps uses a transdisciplinary model to assess complex spine cases. With this model, a team of doctors, clinicians and caregivers examines and weighs all non-surgical and surgical options to determine the best course of treatment for patients. Scripps provides both minimally invasive and traditional reconstructive surgical options for pediatric patients over the age of 13. Dr. Mundis provides spinal consultations for children of all ages.

A history of orthopedic excellence

The Scripps orthopedics program has a history of innovation and patient satisfaction, which are some of the reasons why families from outside the region come to us for specialized pediatric spine care that can be provided in the unique Scripps way.

Scripps also has a history of providing pediatric primary care to the community and offers access to more than 175 pediatricians across San Diego County through Scripps Clinic, Scripps Coastal Medical Center and other Scripps-affiliated offices.

Families of a child who may be showing early indications of spinal condition should talk with their pediatrician.
