Study to treat inflammatory acne

This study will compare the effectiveness of using a laser hair removal device in combination with gold micro-particles, to using a laser device alone, for the treatment of inflammatory acne. The goal of the study is to see if the micro-particles improve the skin more than just laser treatment.

Inclusion Criteria

  • Be 12-45 years old
  • Have a diagnosis of mild to moderate facial inflammatory acne vulgaris
  • Meet all other eligibility criteria

Exclusion Criteria

  • Have cystic or severe acne
  • Be pregnant or breast feeding
  • Have tattoos in the area of treatment
  • Have used oral retinoid therapy within 6 months, steroids within 4 weeks, or laser treatments within 8 weeks

Additional Info

  • Patients will be randomized, like the flip of coin, to treatment with the laser plus micro-particles or laser alone. Treatments will be every 14 days for up to 6 treatments.
