This is a four-hour renewal course for health care providers who hold a current, non-expired American Heart Association ACLS course completion card and are actively working in the field. A short lecture highlighting the current guidelines, a written exam and Megacode testing stations will be used to measure the student’s ability to manage cardiorespiratory emergencies using the ACLS approach.
Students will be able to:
- Recognize and initiate early management of periarrest conditions that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome
- Recognize and manage cardiac arrest until termination of resuscitation or transfer of care, including immediate post-cardiac arrest care
A current ACLS and BLS card are required, and a recent completion of a basic EKG course or similar practice and knowledge reading and recognizing EKG strips.
