Diabetes Prevention Program (Chula Vista)

You may be at higher risk than others for prediabetes and type 2 diabetes if you have these risk factors:

  • You are 18 years old or older and overweight
  • You have a family history of type 2 diabetes
  • You are physically active fewer than three times per week
  • You had diabetes while pregnant (gestational diabetes)

The Scripps Diabetes Prevention Program can help you lose weight, become more physically active and reduce stress. This free lifestyle change program is proven to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes and includes:

  • A curriculum approved by the Centers for Disease Control
  • A trained lifestyle coach
  • A year-long, interactive program: Weekly meetings for the first six months, then once or twice a month for the second six months
