Volunteer Fast Track Entry Opportunity

Scripps Green Hospital has launched another fast track process to recruit new volunteers into the volunteer program.

The program is looking for caring, compassionate individuals who are willing to dedicate their time and service to Scripps Green Hospital and Scripps Clinic by completing a five-step fast-track process that can lead to eligibility to all other volunteer positions working in our patient care units and supporting departments.

This fast track opportunity will end on Friday, April 18. After April 18, the standard volunteer entry process applies.

Getting started

The process for patient check-in to our orthopedics department will be affected by remodeling over the next three months beginning Monday, January 20. As a result, patients who are used to going to the department on the first floor will now need to check in on the second floor before proceeding to the first floor.

We need 8 to 12 volunteers a day to station posts at the hospital and clinic entrances, and parking lots to ensure incoming visitors are aware of this temporary change to limit any inconvenience.

Step 1

Schedule when you’d like to volunteer. Call or email Mielle Schwartz at 858-554-2525 or Mielle is available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 – 5 pm. If timing requires a more immediate response, please contact Kimberly Corona at the phone number above or

Step 2

Report at 8 a.m. or 12 p.m. Monday through Friday for a four-hour shift. Pick the days that work best for you.

Volunteers will receive training, a vest and radio. Additionally, those who volunteer for an entire day (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) will receive lunch.

Successfully complete the volunteer process while giving your time over a one month period. Candidates must complete the assignment and requirements while exhibiting Scripps values, quality, efficiency and respect.

For this assignment, jeans can be worn.

Step 3

Upon completion of step 2 and having exemplified Scripps values, volunteers will transfer to a second position — patient escort — and complete two hours of outpatient transport training.

For this assignment, dress is business casual.

Step 4

Complete steps 1 through 3 successfully and transfer to a minimum four-hour shift per week to a patient care unit or supporting departments for a six-month commitment.
