Please join experts from Scripps Physical Therapy Lymphedema Program and Polster Breast Care Center for an educational class on lymphedema.


Lymphedema is most often caused when lymph nodes are removed or damaged as part of cancer treatment. It can also be due to conditions that affect the lymphatic system or blood flow, such as cardiovascular disease and rheumatoid arthritis.


The class will include information on: 


  • The role of the lymphatic system 
  • Signs and symptoms of lymphedema 
  • Stages of lymphedema and treatment 
  • Risk reduction practices 
  • Exercise and range of motion 
  • Cording (axillary web syndrome)
  • Lymphedema resources
