Course Overview

Scripps MD Anderson’s 2019 Oncology Update is a one-day conference designed to offer clinicians and advanced practice providers a comprehensive overview of the most recent advances in the treatment of various oncologic malignancies. During this comprehensive educational course, clinical experts in the fields of hematology and oncology will provide an overview of key findings from practice changing studies and the latest clinical data as presented at the 2019 annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Esteemed faculty will review exciting and important abstracts presented at the ASCO meeting and discuss their relevance to the clinical oncology practice.

Educational Objectives

After attending this live activity, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss innovative and practice changing data presented at the 2019 ASCO Annual Meeting.
  • Assess advances in clinical oncology research.
  • Evaluate the role of new diagnostic techniques and therapeutic approaches in treating a number of oncologic malignancies.
  • Incorporate new, evidence-based treatment strategies into clinical practice.

Physicians

Scripps Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.


Scripps Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.


ABIM MOC Points

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 5 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.


Nurses

For the purpose of re-certification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME. For the purpose of re-licensure, the California Board of Registered Nursing accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. The majority of state boards accept AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ as meeting continuing education requirements for license renewal. Nurses should check with their state’s Board of Registered Nursing regarding use of CME credit.


ONCC

The program content has been reviewed by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) and is acceptable for recertification points.


Physician Assistants

PAs may claim a maximum of 5 Category 1 credits for completing this activity. NCCPA accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society.
