The 2016 San Diego Day of Trauma

Scripps Mercy Hospital’s annual San Diego Day of Trauma is designed for trauma and emergency medical professionals. Nationally renowned speakers will present state of the art management of life threatening emergencies commonly encountered in the field. Conference speakers will include specialists in the fields of pre-hospital care, trauma surgery, and critical care. Lectures, real-life case presentations, and interactive sessions will engage attendees and promote improved patient outcomes.

After attending this live activity, participants should be able to:

• Outline the lessons from war that improved civilian trauma care at home.
• Discuss the pre-hospital role of tourniquets and hemostatic dressings.
• Delineate the challenges of providing minimally acceptable care.
• Identify key decision points in performing damage control surgery.
• Demonstrate the characteristics of successful vascular trauma management.
• Review the advances in long distance transport of critically injured patients.
• Summarize the challenges civilian trauma professionals face in going to war.
