Problem-based learning for internal medicine residents

The didactic component of the Scripps Clinic and Scripps Green Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program is one of the many highlights of the program. The daily and weekly seminars are highly developed, well organized and consistently applied.

Residents participate in the conference/teaching rounding structure during most assignments. Within each division or rotation, there are usually division-specific conferences held in the early morning or at noon. Additionally, the Internal Medicine Residency Program has started a bedside ultrasound course (PDF, 180 KB) that runs throughout the year and is taught by our critical care specialists.

During many subspecialty assignments, residents participate in that specialty’s journal club or core conference series in lieu of the conferences for the internal medicine residency as a whole.
