Below is a list of most the frequently asked questions about Scripps HealthExpress.

How do I make an appointment?

You can call us or fill out the form on this page if you would like to request an appointment for a future date.

What are the operating days and hours?

Scripps HealthExpress at The Plaza is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., excluding major holidays.

How much does it cost to be seen?

We accept most insurance plans. Learn more about insurance plans we accept, and see our services list, which includes cash prices for our most requested services. We also accept payment by credit card, cash and personal check.

Who staffs the clinic?

Scripps HealthExpress is staffed by highly trained nurse practitioners and physician assistants with physician oversight.

Will Scripps HealthExpress work with my existing doctors if necessary?

Yes, we will work with your existing physicians to coordinate any follow-up that is required.

Will my employer have access to my medical information?

No, your employer will not have access to your medical information. As part of Scripps Health, Scripps HealthExpress follows the federal HIPAA Privacy Rule to protect your medical records and other personal health information.

If I am injured at work, should I go to Scripps HealthExpress?

Please refer to your employer’s specific guidelines about Worker’s Compensation care.

Will I be charged sick leave if I have a scheduled appointment?

This question should be answered by your employer.

Can I fill my prescriptions at Scripps HealthExpress?

We currently do not fill prescriptions, but expect to provide this service in the near future. In the interim, we will send any prescription to the pharmacy of your choice.

What if I need to speak to someone after hours with an urgent question or concern?

If you call our office before or after hours, you will be given the option to call 911 for an emergency. You may also want to call your primary care provider’s office or visit an urgent care facility.

Can I go to Scripps HealthExpress for an emergency?

We offer care for non-emergency medical needs. Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla provides emergency and trauma care.
